Sunscreen - the secret to eternal youth
Filed under: GroomingO.k. kids today I’m going to be talking about the importance of sunscreen. I know some people still think it’s a gimmick, or some kind of mindless fad, but it’s not. However a healthy dose of sunshine is good for us. It provides us with a very important vitamin – vitamin D. However too much can be harmful (like too much of anything really). So sunscreen ladies is the key to eterna… o.k. maybe not eternal but certainly prolonged youth.
So what’s so bad about sunshine? Well the sun gives off Ultraviolet (UV) light which is a type of electromagnetic radiation. There are 3 main types of radiation that can cause harm to the skin; UVA, UVB, and UVC. These can all damage collagen fibres and, therefore, accelerate ageing of the skin (lines, wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation). UV rays have also been linked to cancer - mainly malignant melanoma aka skin cancer. This should be more than fucking enough to encourage you to slap on the sunscreen, even when it’s not sunny.
Yes you heard me, UV rays can still penetrate the fucking clouds. It’s a cloud not the fucking gates of heaven people- shit will get through. Unless of course you live somewhere like Greenland where they hardly ever see the fucking sun; mind you even then it wouldn’t hurt to use SPF anyway.
Also don’t use sunbeds. Those things are a fucking cancer trap waiting to happen. I’m serious – they’re evil. Don’t do it, I know it seems tempting but don’t.
Basically the point I’m trying to make is __just fucking use SPF__if you want to have younger looking skin for longer (at least a factor of 15). The easiest way to do this is to make sure your daily moisturiser has sunscreen in it. Try and make it second nature when you go shopping for new products. Also any additional protection ( for example some foundations now have SPF in them) wouldn’t go a miss either.
Another thing to remember is the hotter the country you’re in, the higher SPF you should be using. So if you use SPF15 in England, use SPF30 if you visit Thailand for example; and if you’ve got an English rose complexion and/or you burn easily then use an even higher factor when you go abroad. Obviously is you’ve got a darker complexion then you have slightly more natural sun protection, so you can just stick to SPF15. However no one is immune from sun damage.
So remember, if you want younger looking skin for longer -
Always use an SPF of at least 15 everyday
Use a higher factor than normal if you’re going somewhere hot – make sure you keep it topped up esp if you’ve been swimming
When shopping for holiday sunscreen make sure it’s one of the modern ones with a good filter and a long wearing formula.
Never use sun beds because their the toasters of Satan
Have fun in the sun bitches!
