Seeing Red
Filed under: SocietyI’m going to clarify something: no doubt someone is going to bring it up and piss me off; before hearing my side of the story. In my colour post I mentioned that people with ginger hair couldn’t wear black. I am not going to deny it, because I genuinely believe this, however it is just my opinion and you are free to do whatever the hell you want. Even if it means wearing a colour, that draws attention away from the natural beauty at is crimson hair.
Furry Ketchup???
Honestly? I like ginger hair, it kind of reminds me Ketchup; furry Ketchup. Seriously though, I see my scarlet sisters as a fellow minority in the beauty world. Red hair to me is a rare and wondrous sight; much like how platinum blonde hair was like in the past (I’m talking about the dark ages here). So like many other British stigmas, I couldn’t understand why red hair was seen as a mark of embarrassment. I believe it should be celebrated and displayed at every available opportunity; not dyed or subdued!
There are plenty of celebrities out there who have donned crimson locks; Isla Fisher, Nicole Kidman, Geri Halliwell, Cate Blanchett, Kate Winslett, just to name a few (we don’t count Lindsay Lohan because she’s a skank).
I’m not bad, I’m just drawn Ginger
If none of those examples convince you, then I dare you to deny that Jessica Rabbit is not one of the sexiest red heads on the planet. Admittedly she’s not real but that’s beside the point: the point is, out of every shade known to man, the illustrator/illustrators decided to make her a red head. Ariel from the little Mermaid is also a good example of a gorgeous red head (again not real, but anyway).
Unfortunately being a red head sometimes comes with the burden of being freckly and/or fair skinned. I’d like to say I understand but I don’t because I’m Asian and we don’t get freckles (We do get hyper pigmentation though – does that count?) Plus we’re naturally tanned; however I think tans are overrated and freckles can be cute.
Don’t look like a giant blood stain
So to all my fiery maned bitches out there…Flaunt it! Because being ginger is fierce, brave and hella sexy. Remember though to wear colours that compliment your crowning glory (Black? If you must but try not to). If you’re going to wear red make sure you break it up so you don’t look like a giant blood stain and it’s just common knowledge not to wear orange and bright green together, unless you want to look like a human carrot.
P.S If your guy with ginger hair however you’re screwed. The women look sexy; the men just look orange.
